At the end of the summer, she obtained a great job in her favorite city, far away from home. After the initial excitement washed away, she began to feel lonely. She really liked her work atmosphere and knew this job was truly good for her though. She needed some affirmation that while she was cold and alone at the time, she made the right choice.
That sort of move would be hard for most people and was/is especially hard for her family-oriented self. I haven’t moved out there yet and I’m currently limited to visits every couple months (#TeamLongDistance) but I was intent on finding a way to encourage her in a real way from where I am to where she is.
P R O C E S S
I wanted it to feel like the opening of a musical. A little orchestral but with a good beat behind it. Piano layered under E. Piano gave me the ballad feel that I wanted, and the drum pattern left space to switch from groove to ballad effortlessly. There’s a bit of a dance party shout a la Stevie Wonder in the end that I hope you all will enjoy. #TurnUp, haha.
